Jon Krosnick

 

PROFESSOR JON KROSNICK
Lab Director

Jon is a social psychologist who does research on attitude formation, changes, and effects, on the psychology of political behavior, and on current survey research methods. He is the Frederic O. Glover Professor in Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor of Communication, Political Science, and (by courtesy) Psychology. At Stanford, besides his professorships, he directs the Political Psychology Research Group and the Summer Institute in Political Psychology.

BO MACINNIS, PhD
Lecturer

Bo MacInnis is a Ph.D. economist from the University of California at Berkeley. Her research focuses on climate change and survey research methods. She is a Lecturer in the Department of Communication, and regularly collaborates with Jon on climate change research.

Sebastian earned his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. His main research interest is in survey methodology and is working with Jon as a postdoc within the Replication Project.

Lauren earned her Ph.D. in Social Psychology at Stanford University. She is interested in public communication about political issues, motivated reasoning, and public distrust in opinion polls.

PPRG Team Member

Mattew Berent earned his Ph.D. in Social Psychology at The Ohio State University. He runs his own consulting firm and worked with Jon on survey question design and voting behavior. His research interests include human-computer interactions and consumer data.

MATTHEW DeBELL, PhD
Director of Stanford Operations, American National Election Studies, PPRG Team Member

Matthew DeBell earned his Ph.D. in government at Georgetown University. DeBell has been Director of Operations for the American National Election Studies since 2006. His research areas include questionnaire design and public opinion.

Adina is a Ph.D. student concentrating in political communication. Her research interests include public attitudes, beliefs and behaviors about global warming and other partisan environmental issues.

Samantha (Samy) Sekar is a Ph.D. student in the interdisciplinary environment and resources program and a David and Lucille Packard Foundation Fellow. She researches how to estimate public opinion at state and local levels, so that public opinion data is more relevant for policymakers.

Karen is a junior interested in public policy and ethics. She is interested in comparative politics and international trade. Karen is a writer for the news section of the Stanford Daily and also enjoys food writing. She spends her free time volunteering for events related to arts and culture.

Daniel is a junior majoring in economics. He is interested in the intersection between policy and labor economics. He spends his free time traveling, going to art museums, and playing poker.

Zecheng is a sophomore majoring in political science. He wants to explore the intersection between political economy and data science within his major, while branching out into other social science endeavors at large. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends, watching TV shows, and visiting interesting places.

Cass is a freshman at Stanford looking to study politics and history. He also has broader interests in ethics, political philosophy, and economics theory. In his free time, he enjoys reading novels, camping, and hiking.

Micheal is a freshman interested in economics and political science, with a keen interest in international trade policy and tax policy. Micheal is involved in the Stanford Black Student Union, Stanford Economics Association, and Stanford in Government. He spends his free time watching Netflix, playing tennis, and having engaging conversations.

Lucas is a freshman at Stanford pursuing a major in economics with a focus on finance and minor international relations. He likes to spend his time outside the lab keeping up to date with events in the financial sector, playing his bass guitar, and being active in his fraternity.

Sarah is a freshman interested in politics, economics, and policy-making. She is involved with Stanford Women in Business and is a member of the Public Policy Forum committee of Stanford in Government. In her free time, Sarah enjoys painting, traveling abroad, and experiencing new cuisines.

Michaela is a junior at Stanford studying political science and communications. She is especially interested in political psychology, political economies and development, and the ethics of political elections. Michaela is a member of the Stanford Women’s Varsity Volleyball team and enjoys hiking and traveling in her free time.

Jessica Gonzales is a freshman pursuing a major in political science, with an interest in psychology, philosophy and international relations. Jessica is currently involved with the Senate Associate Program, Stanford in Government, and the Frosh Service Liaison program, where she works on dorm-wide service projects in the community with an emphasis on sustainability. In her free time, she enjoys editing, cross-stitching, visiting museums, and attending Stanford sponsored political events.

Theresa is a freshman who is double majoring in Public Policy and Spanish. One day she hopes to attend law school and pursue a job in politics or government. Some of her passions include gender equity activism and service, particularly with the Special Needs community.
